Art will be featured heavily at Cambridge Main Street’s annual Spring Fling fundraiser on April 9 at the Choptank River Golf and Events Center. Local artists have contributed everything from decorative center pieces to auction items the organization hopes will attract high bids and help fuel the economic revitalization of downtown Cambridge.
The event features an elaborate live and silent auction, and the idea to feature art came from a committee meeting focused on finding unique ideas.
“Original art is one-of-a-kind,” said Cambridge Main Street Executive Director Brandon Hesson. “There aren’t many things more unique than an original piece from a talented artist.”
Accomplished local artist Lisa Krentel has created a series of four incredibly luminous original paintings reminiscent of Hubble Telescope photographs to enhance the event’s theme – By the Sun, Moon and Stars. Each is 24” x 20” and features raised panels to create a three-dimensional painting.
The group has also amassed a collection of jewelry, photography, and clay art pieces from accomplished local artists including Ann Geiger, Linda Starling, Theresa McFadden and many others.
“Cambridge Main Street has always had a special relationship with our local artists, and they are telling our community’s story visually, in their selected media,” said Hesson. “We’re so fortunate to have these accomplished artists step up to support us.”
These unique pieces will only be available at Cambridge Main Street’s Spring Fling. Go HERE to purchase tickets, or call 443-477-0843. Tickets can also be bought at Katie Mae’s Country Shop (516 Poplar Street) and the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce (528 Poplar Street.)
