GrooveFEST: Downtown Music Festival

We welcome you for a fun filled weekend in October – Friday, October 19th, Saturday, Oct 20th and Sunday October 21st – for the GrooveFEST: BLUES BREWS & BBQ festival. Featuring a weekend-long series of events, including a fun open air street festival in downtown Cambridge on SUNDAY night. (RESCHEDULED FROM SEPTEMBER DUE TO HURRICANE FLORENCE)

Inspired by community favorite, Groove City Jazz and Blues Festival which now a fun street festival, GrooveFEST is a festival that showcases the earthy arts and entertainment vibe of our downtown.

GrooveFEST, will feature earthy, soulful music tapping into the character of downtown Cambridge and our local musical heritage.

FRIDAY: October 19th

GROOVE CITY STUDIOS PRESENTS JOHN NEMETH and The Blue Dreamers

6pm – 10pm (Location: WHCP RADIO 516 Race Street)

Join us for a special performance featuring John Nemeth, international touring soul and blues performer. Happening at the Groove City Studio / WHCP Radio location 516 Race Street.

ABOUT: Németh fearlessly crushes all barriers of style and genre with an album of original songs that defies all the usual pigeonholes. Drawing from his strong influences in blues and R&B, as well as contemporary sounds in hip hop and rock & roll, John creates music that is personal as well as universal, and owes its origin to no one but John Németh. John’s songs are groove and melody-driven, laced with thoughtful lyrics and nuanced humor, and cover themes from social issues of gun violence and class values to the pure hedonistic joy of dancing, sexuality and marijuana. He creates his songs from melodies and phrases he draws from the sounds of life, from early-morning Memphis songbirds to the din of the city.

SUNDAY: October 21st

Street Festival

1pm – 6pm along the 500 block of Poplar Street and the 400 block of Race Street. Featuring the musical talents of John Nemeth, Karen Somerville, Josh Christina, Hoppie Vaughan and the Ministers of Soul, and The Evolution Band.

We’ll have lots of great BBQ, vendors, and music to enjoy! The BBQ competition is BACK! this year!

$5 entry donation to festival, enter at Gay, High, Muir Street intersections.
