You’ve read about the skipjack, Nathan of Dorchester with her 25th Anniversary, now see her in action at the Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race on Saturday, September 21 st .
The festival begins with a parade of boats at 9am heading out of Cambridge Creek. The race itself begins around 10am.
The parade of skipjacks and race start and finish are best viewed from Long Wharf Park (near High and Water Streets in Cambridge, MD). Some of the classic skipjacks that will be racing are: The Dee of St. Mary’s, Lady Katie, Rosie Parks, Rebecca T. Ruark, and the Ida May.
The race in Cambridge provides an excellent opportunity to see many surviving traditional skipjacks up close and under sail as they race on the Choptank River.
Join us and celebrate Maryland’s skipjacks with food and gift vendors.
