Cambridge Main Street and its title sponsor Precision Exteriors will host Second Saturday on December 10 from 2:00pm-8:00pm. The holiday themed event will feature voting for the community wreath decorating contest and a holiday meet and greet with cookies, candy canes, and caroling in Cannery Way.
Voting for the first-ever community wreath decorating contest will take place in front of the LMS Building at 415 Race Street from 2:00pm-4:00pm. The Blue Awning will host a kid’s craft in their store from 2:00pm-4:00pm sponsored by Cambridge Main Street and Precision Exteriors. From 3:00pm-5:00pm, Cambridge Main Street and Precision Exteriors will have complimentary cookies and candy canes in Cannery Way. Carolers will provide entertainment and the winner of the wreath decorating contest will be announced at 4:30pm.
As an enticement to holiday shoppers, many downtown retail shops will be participating in the Shop and Win! promotion. Shop and Win! Begins on Saturday, December 3 and will end on Sunday, December 18. For every $25 you spend at a participating downtown Cambridge shop, you’ll receive an entry form that makes you eligible to win gift certificates or other prizes from local businesses. Completed tickets will be entered into prize drawings held during the two-week period. Winners will be notified after each drawing; you do not need to be in attendance to win. The grand prize drawing will be December 19.
Other Second Saturday happenings include: extended hours at Blackwater Bakery, a “meet the author” event at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center, a holiday market in the Blue Ruin Parking lot, Jazz at the Mural at Heirloom Athletics, and The Merry Market Second Saturday Reception at the Dorchester Center for the Arts.
