The holidays are coming and Main Street Gallery will be ready with arm-loads of treats! Beautiful holiday-priced artwork, music, champagne, chocolates and a raffle of a Danny Doughty painting for charity are all part of the fun!!
It’s all happening during the November/December show, called “Artful Giving” featuring guest artist Heidi Wetzel. Heidi will be showing her unique handmade basketry and fiber art which has won her acclaim all over the Eastern Shore. The Easton artist, who originally hails from Germany, uses unique and indigenous materials in her work as well as exotic finds she brings back from her many travels. Ranging in style from traditional to contemporary, Heidi’s work is often inspired by nature. “Some of my sculptures are utilitarian, while others are purely decorative,” she says. “With my three dimensional wall hangings I try to create “pictures” or scenes from nature. My work reflects the beauty I see in the world around me and the natural surroundings here on the Eastern shore.” For “Artful Giving” Heidi Wetzel and the gallery’s 13 member artists will focus on showing smaller, more affordable works which will be perfect for holiday gift-giving.
And speaking of gift-giving, Main Street Gallery will be giving back to the community by raffling off an original, signed painting by renowned artist, Danny Doughty. The majority of the proceeds from the raffle will go to “Meals til Monday”, a local charity that helps feed needy area schoolchildren over the weekends. Don’t miss your chance to win this very special painting and help a worthy cause. Tickets will be available at the Gallery starting November 9.
“Artful Giving”will open on November 9 and run through December 30. There will be two artist’s receptions on second Saturdays, November 10 and December 8 from 5 to 8 PM at the Gallery at 518 Poplar St. in Cambridge, (directly across the street from Jimmie and Sooks restaurant). The receptions are free and open to all. A special holiday reception with champagne and chocolates and music by singer/songwriter, Terry White, will be held on December 10.
