“Spring into Art” in Downtown Cambridge on April 8th – This Second Saturday, April 8th, “Spring into Art” in downtown Cambridge!
The day will feature a special Kiln Born pottery painting studio “pop up” at the location of Rock Lobstah’s Groove City Arcade, 501 Poplar Street. Kiln Born Creations will be on hand with a “paint your own pottery” boutique. Let your inner artist out as you design and paint your choice of tableware or kid-friendly figurine. Professional artists will be on hand to assist throughout the entire process. All ages welcome, $15 per piece. The studio will be open 3pm – 5pm (last seating starts at 5pm). Seats are limited, reserve your spot at www.cambridgemainstreet.com.
The Downtown Art Stroll will kick off at 5pm. Visit new downtown artists Mary Ann and John Dynan of “Jewelry by Cottage Studio” at 408 Race Street (above Knit Nook). For each purchase at Jewelry by Cottage Studio valued at $50 dollars or more during the month of April, you will receive a complimentary T shirt designed by their grandson, Trust, who is on the Spectrum. This is a great way to help spread awareness while sporting a unique design.
“Secrets of the Eastern Shore” will be offering book signing by writer Jim Duffy and the artwork of Jill Jasuta at the Joie de Vivre Studio, 408 Race Street (above Knit Nook). Find them there between 5pm – 7:30pm.
In the galleries are “Points of Juxtaposition: A Gathering of Six African American Artists” at the Dorchester Center for the Arts, 321 High Street. The exhibit features the works of Maryland and Delaware artists Tony Burton, Alex Gamble, Kennie Jones, Michael Morris, Ernie Satchell and Carl Williams, with a special artist reception Saturday, April 8th from 5pm – 7:30pm.
Main Street Gallery, 518 Poplar Street, features their show “A Change in Atmosphere”. Each of the gallery’s members will exhibit work that in some way reflects a change, either in their world or the world around them. A special artist reception will be held Saturday, April 8th, from 5pm – 8pm.
The Art Bar, 317 High Street, will feature the Saturday Night LIVE sounds of jazz, blues, and funk by Ocean City Trio “Dark Gold Jazz”. The performance will kick off at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10, available at the door or in advance at The Art Bar.
The Leggett Gallery at Chesapeake College downtown Race Street location will feature the works by photographers of The Baywater Camera Club. The Baywater Camera Club (BCC) was formed a few years ago, when a group of Cambridge photo enthusiasts saw the need for a local club to serve the needs of photographers at all skill levels. The photographers featured in this exhibit are: Ron Berman, Lynne Browne, Craig Caldwell, Pam Montell Decraecke, Jean S. Del Sordo, Steve Del Sordo, Bill McDonnell, Kathryn Mc Knight, Terry Melius, Wendy Rue, Fran Saunders and Dee Terry. A special artist reception will be hosted from 5pm – 6:30pm, 416 Race Street.
